Baltic Adriatic Vertical is a stratified project with many levels. Some of them are: social, economic, transport, touristic, spiritual, philosophical, historical, cultural, political, and environmental.
The overall aim is to contribute to sustainable development in countries in the area between the Adriatic and the Baltic, based on European values, penetrated with knowledge and cooperation, with the preservation of traditional values and use of opportunities that come with globalisation and the expanding of European Union. One of the goals is to create network and establish cooperation between people, organizations, cities, and states in the area between the Baltic and Adriatic and also development of the civil society and the affirmation of international cooperation in order to achieve sustainable development. Therefore it will be necessary the cooperation on transbounding projects and exchange of volunteers.
Baltic Adriatic vertical aims to also create a hurdle (net) of connected cities and organizations in the area of the Baltic to the Adriatic, with an emphasis on the corridor that connects the Baltic coast between Szczecin and Gdansk, goes through Poznan and Wroclaw to Vienna and Bratislava, goes through the western Hungary to the south to Koprivnica, Bjelovar and Banja Luka, and southern with one side goes to Split and Makarska, and with the other towards Mostar and Ploce (a connection to the planned highway, the corridor 5c and Adriatic Jonian corridor).
The purpose of hurdle (network) of connected (twin) cities is to enable the exchange of knowledge, experiences, ideas, culture, tourist, work, and products and all other things between all the countries of the Vertical and includes other nearby cities. This includes the need for rapid construction of adequate road or highway, developing awareness of this need and finding a better model of planning, financing, and construction.
